Welcome to our Award Winning Alfriston Cabins & Shepherd Huts

Dog Friendly, Self catering cabins + Shepherds Huts Glamping with hot tubs, East Sussex

Our Woodland Cabins are situated high on a hill next to the gorgeous village of Alfriston. Located within the South Downs National Park and on the South Downs Way, set in small private woods. With the ability to cook outside using our firepits, relax under the stars in a hammock, create a den, create your own treasure hunt and look for different types of wildlife, there is something for everyone!

Our Shepherds Huts, Robins Retreat, Woodpecker Hill and Owls Nest have views that won’t disappoint and the ability to cook outside and spend time outdoors, a real treat!

Why not treat yourself to a wood fired hot tub stay- this option is available for stays in Foxes Hollow, Badgers Rest, and Robins Retreat of two nights or more. The hot tub at Robins Retreat has a paddle rather than bubbles to make your stay more serene.

About Us

Badgers Rest and Foxes Hollow are designed by a local award winning architect. From moving to Alfriston in 2018, after many months of planning, five storms and the Coronavirus outbreak our plans and dreams became a reality in July 2020 when the two oak framed woodland cabins could finally open.

We built the beautiful cabins on the footprint of an old forest school and summer house which had become dilapidated. Always having a dream of living in a safe environment with our son, surrounded by nature.

Subsequently Robins Retreat arrived in August 2022, the first of three Shepherds Hut within our orchard rather than in the woods, with views over the Cuckmere Valley. The second Hut, Woodpecker Hill, arrived during June 2023, and more recently our third and final Shepherds Hut Owls Nest arrived in July 2024

Within this dream, sharing the beautiful scenery of the South Downs National Park, enhancing wildlife, creating long lasting memories for guests, growing vegetables, keeping farm animals, and living off the land. All of this and much, much more!

To become a carbon neutral business is also a vision to help retain and restore the world we live in, and our journey is now well underway.

We hope to see you soon xx
